Against Fabricated Charges, Against Death Sentences
Sharifeh Mohammadi Must Be Released Immediately!
The Islamic Republic, while bowing down to the U.S. and Israel, in fear of overthrow and being in a severely dire political situation, lashes out at society.
The Islamic regime is trying to keep itself standing by resorting to escalated brutality. The arrest of more than 20,000 people during and after the 12-day war under the pretext of “countering espionage,” the escalation of executions and issuing death sentences (by gaining so called confessions under torture and fabricated cases), the militarization of cities, the setting up of checkpoints, and the imposition of a de facto undeclared martial law are all desperate attempts by the regime for survival.
The Branch 39 of the Supreme Court in Iran has once again upheld and announced the death sentence of Sharifeh Mohammadi, a worker activist. This ruling, based on torture and fabricated charges, was first issued on July 4, 2024, by the Islamic regime’s so-called court in the city of Rasht.
Under the pressure of widespread protests inside and outside Iran, the ruling was overturned by the Supreme Court in October 2024. The Islamic Republic knows better than anyone that Sharifeh, Pakhshan, and other political prisoners have committed no crime.
The aim of executing the most honorable people and activists is to crush and silence an active social movement. For the Islamic Republic, executions are a bulwark of survival through terror. But it is grinding water: the only path for the Islamic Republic is retreat, while for society it is time to advance. The regime imagines it can silence an explosive society.
Worker-Communist Party of Iran – Hekmatist strongly condemns the death sentence of Sharifeh Mohammadi and other political prisoners and demands their immediate release. We call on freedom-loving people, workers, women, men, and revolutionary forces inside and outside Iran to protest, by every possible means and initiative, against the death sentence of Sharifeh Mohammadi and demand the freedom of all political prisoners.
Execution is state-sanctioned murder. Execution is the negation of life; no state or power should have such a right. The death penalty must be abolished. The execution machine must be smashed together with the Islamic regime itself! Sharifeh Mohammadi and all political prisoners must be freed!
