Statement of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Iran condemning the death sentence of labor activist Sharifeh Mohammadi

The news of Iran’s Supreme Court upholding the death sentence of labor activist Sharifeh Mohammadi has provoked anger and outrage among the people and activists of social movements. This inhumane ruling once again shows the repressive, reactionary, and anti-worker nature of the Islamic Republic regime against the working class and the oppressed masses in Iran.
Sharifeh Mohammadi is a courageous and free-spirited woman whose efforts have always focused on defending the rights of workers and women. Accusing her of “armed rebellion” which has no connection to her actual activities, only reveals the regime’s intent to physically eliminate labor activists and to prevent the growth of organized workers’ struggles.
This ruling is a political and security decision issued with the approval of the regime’s security and judicial apparatus. Once again, the judiciary of the Islamic Republic has shown itself to be nothing more than a tool of the ruling capitalists and defenders of a reactionary order.
This action by the regime is a clear warning to the entire labor and revolutionary movement. Upholding the death sentence of Sharifeh Mohammadi is not only a blatant crime against a labor activist but also an attempt to instill fear among all freedom-seeking and revolutionary forces. Yet history has shown time and again that the resistance of fighters only makes the torch of liberation burn brighter. No death sentence can silence the revolutionary movement of workers and the oppressed.
We demand the immediate and unconditional abolition of all death sentences, especially the death sentence of Sharifeh Mohammadi, the immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners and activists of various social movements, and an end to the systematic repression of social and labor activists.
We call on all communist and revolutionary parties and organizations, all labor and social associations, and international labor unions to rise up against this inhumane ruling.
We stress the need to organize widespread protests inside and outside the country against the wave of executions. These protests must continue both in the streets and workplaces in Iran and globally in front of the embassies and institutions of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Only through unity and solidarity can we push back the machinery of repression of the Islamic Republic.
Sharifeh Mohammadi is not alone!
The strength and solidarity of workers and the oppressed form a steadfast barrier against the repressive machinery of the Islamic Republic.
Long live freedom, equality, and workers’ rule!
Down with the Islamic Republic in Iran!
Long live socialism!
